GOING DOOR-TO-DOOR FOR DEMOCRACY
Fall Break is a great time to be a CU Democrat! During Campaign Trip, nearly one hundred energized CU students leave New York City behind to fight for progressive causes and candidates on the ground in swing districts. Our Lead Activists coordinate with local campaign offices every year to give our students the opportunity to learn about and engage with GOTV efforts.
Some of the activities on Campaign Trip include:
There are no prerequisites or personal costs required to participate in a Campaign Trip. CU students of any commitment level, prior canvassing experience, or political knowledge are welcome to apply. Prior to the trip, Lead Activists host training and information sessions to help future canvassers build their political communication skills before they hit the road.
- Supporting local organizers in their work to flip districts and help Democrats win
- Registering new voters and reengaging lapsed voters
- Informing voters about how, when, and where to cast their ballot
- Cutting turf, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and engaging with constituents in critical districts

Virtual campaign Teams 2020
This year, we modified our campaign activities in light of the ongoing public health crisis. In collaboration with the Democratic Coordinated Campaigns of North Carolina and Nevada, CU Dems phonebanked and textbanked each weekend for the five weeks leading up to the 2020 election. We are proud of the work of our Lead Activists, who organized a creative version of our annual tradition, and the commitment of our members, who dedicated themselves to connecting with voters and electing Democrats down the ticket.
